Building The Future Together

More than 600 Milwaukee-area business executives packed The Pfister Hotel May 14th to raise money for children’s programs at the Jewish Community Center in Milwaukee and try out some tasty food from local restaurants including Carnevor, Devon’s Seafood Grill, Purple Door Ice Cream, The Capital Grille, Mason Street Grill, Holey Moley Coffee + Doughnuts, Joey Gerard’s and North Star American Bistro.

Hunzinger Construction Company was a co-sponsor of the JCC’s KidShare annual event and some of our employee’s joined a crew from Plunkett Raysich Architects to build a sculpture out of cans of donated food for display at the Pfister Hotel which hosted the annual KidShare event. PRA collected funds to buy the cans and designed the sculpture.

The experienced canstructors from Hunzinger were Alexander Raver and Christina Szews. PRA provided Simmi Urbanek and Michelle Raysich, as well as, Tami Kent to lend their expertise to the building process. Together, they built a scene of children sitting on a park bench that served as a welcoming display for the event that raises money to support early childhood, after-school and educational programs at the Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay. The display was built from over 500 cans of pink salmon, potatoes, corn, and green, red and black beans. The PRA team also built mini construction centerpieces for display on the serving tables.

For the canstructors, this was an encore performance as both firms participated last October in the JCC’s major Canstruction Fundraiser held at Bayshore Towne Center. At that event over 12,000 cans of food were donated and after a tension filled week of waiting for the results of the voting, Hunzinger’s structure of “The Miller Park Famous Racing Sausages bounding to the finish line where Hank, the Brewer’s mascot, was obediently waiting for them” was awarded People’s Choice Award!

Our thanks go out to Hunzinger Estimator Brent Arnold, a JCC Board Member for the past three years, for getting the company involved in this great cause. Brent, like many of our Hunzinger team members, is a very active volunteer and committed to making our community a better place.
