Hunzinger Construction Company served as the Construction Manager for the new Uline I6 Branch Warehouse Facility located at 12355 Uline Way in Kenosha, WI just across the I-94 freeway from the Amazon Fulfillment Center.
This major site development and new construction of an 880,000 SF project includes an 800,000 SF multi-function warehouse distribution center and an 80,000 SF logistics and office support space. Located on previously undeveloped land, the huge 144 acre site required major site development, storm water management, utility services and infrastructure upgrades to support the planned facility. Hunzinger and ULINE successfully coordinated with local, regional and state officials to obtain the necessary approvals and permits required for the major site clearing and earthwork to begin in the spring of 2016. Over 1 million cubic yards of soil and the construction of storm water management ponds with capacities of over 21 million gallons of water were installed within months.
The new massive building features a precast and steel superstructure with 42 foot high panels to allow maximum flexibility for long-term storage and distribution needs. The building has 99 loading docks to streamline shipping and receiving. A large concrete truck court was built to accommodate up to 130 truck/trailers when additional staging is necessary.
Hunzinger’s Virtual Design & Construction Coordination® (VDCC®) processes were instituted in building systems coordination for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection elements.
HGA Architects and Engineers were the project designers with Pinnacle Engineering Group, Brookfield, WI working as the Civil Engineers.
The warehouse was substantially complete within 1 year of breaking ground and the overall project was completed on time in the late summer of 2017.
