Toyota Territory at Miller Park is located at One Brewers Way in Milwaukee, WI. Hunzinger Construction Company served as a construction manager and self-performed the demolition, carpentry and concrete work on the project. The redevelopment of the Toyota Territory for the 2014 season is the key element of a multi-year sponsoring partnership with the auto company and the Brewers. Uihlein Wilson Architects of Milwaukee served as project designers.

This fast-tracked project was completed in just 8 weeks and is a new spectacular spectator destination located in right field. New countertops were installed along the right field wall and pub tables and chairs were placed to create a great view of the field and the visitor’s bullpen. The project also included ADA seating and the installation of three high definition flat screen televisions, one that is 70 inches. The centerpiece of the new area is the construction of a raised plinth that has a steel frame that holds an elevated Toyota Highlander. The vehicle is suspended over the seating and gathering area and is awash in multi-colored LED lighting, providing the focal point of this newly styled area that covers 1,493-square feet and is capable of holding more than 100 people.

“This project went from design documents to completion is just 8 weeks. The schedule was tight because we had to be ready for Opening Day. The fast-track schedule wasn’t our biggest challenge though. It was the super cold winter. Our work took place under the closed roof but in the off season, when the roof is closed, it can be colder inside than out. We had to build a winter conditions “bubble” using structural steel cables draped with huge sheets of plastic and heated by torpedo heaters to bring the temperature up to the material requirements. We built access panels in the “bubble” so we could pump in the concrete with equipment staged in the plaza. The project had a lot of weather sensitive work, all the concrete and all the finishes needed to be done in above 50 degree temperatures. The job concluded with raising the Toyota Highlander into place atop the steel structure. We brought a special crane onto the Miller Park warning track and lifted the vehicle into place. It was a great way to complete the job and I look forward to seeing other Toyota vehicles on that platform in seasons to come because it was designed to hold almost every type of vehicle Toyota makes.”
