Building The Future Together

LEED / SUSTAINABLE CONSULTING

Hunzinger was the first contractor and facility owner in the State of Wisconsin to complete respective Gold and Platinum LEED-CI Certifications of our buildings. Hunzinger is at the forefront of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) construction practices and administration

Today, Hunzinger has over 35 LEED Accredited Professionals on staff. We understand how to implement green strategy techniques such as building material and system integration processes required to achieve immediate and long term sustainability goals.

We are experienced in utilizing the U.S. Green Building Council’s developed LEED program to encourage sustainable and green practices. We achieved each of the four levels a building can be LEED certified; Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each designation signifies a specific level of energy conservation and resource management. We will work collaboratively to identify and implement your project specific sustainability goals.

Jim Hunzinger

For our company, The Sustainable Movement was an invigorating process. Over a decade ago, we decided to take the plunge and embrace sustainable design and construction practices, which at the time was new to this marketplace. Today, our staff consists of over 35 LEED Accredited Professionals and LEED Green Associates. All of our company owned facilities are now LEED Certified. Sharing our passion and enthusiasm for green building led to the implementation of our continuing education and training programs for not only our own workforce, but also anyone else seeking professional accreditation and sustainability enrichment opportunities.

Hunzinger provides environmental options for companies at all budget levels. We offer recommendations on site use and utilization, selection of materials, and building systems and equipment. We can conduct Feasibility Studies, Comparative Cost Analyses, Cost/Benefit Studies, Payback Timelines, Life Cycle Planning. We explore and have experience implementing, Rebate & Grant Program Administration and will conduct Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Building Automation System Assessments and make recommendations to meet your needs.

HUNZINGER’S CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN

As a contractor, one of the greatest contributions to sustainability we can make is a company-wide Construction Waste Management Plan. The construction and demolition waste stream provides many opportunities for diverting huge quantities of often relatively clean materials. Hunzinger is committed to diverting construction waste for its projects from landfills. We developed a comprehensive and proven company-wide waste management plan. For many years now, Hunzinger maximized it’s recycling by separating wood, steel and often drywall materials at jobsites. We create a site specific Waste Management Plan for each project that takes into account the type of project, size of the location, the types of materials and other construction spoils, and opportunities for additional recycling or reuse of materials. We are an industry leader in reuse and recycling our materials.

What is LEED?

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
